Kairos
Kairos is a Greek word: καιρός. It means the right moment. Not time as it merely passes, which the Greeks called chronos, but the opportune time, the decisive one. The moment that asks to be met with awareness rather than avoidance.
Death is the one certainty every life contains, and the one many of us arrange never to look at until we are forced to. Kairos is built on the opposite premise: that the end of a life is worth meeting clearly, and worth planning for, like anything else that matters. Kairos aims to provide a curated resource to facilitate planning for a more ecological end of life.
We believe the disposition of a body is a design problem, a chemistry problem, an ecological problem and a legal one. We know it is also an emotional one — and that is the lane we deliberately stay out of. Our language is plain and factual rather than soothing. We are deliberate in leaving the meanings, the rituals and the emotions to you and the people and traditions you trust.
Ecology
There is no zero-impact disposition method; each leaves a footprint in energy, materials, land or emissions. The Ecology pages are where we assess the options: what each one costs the living world, what it gives back and what it trades off. We cite our sources, show ranges rather than tidy numbers and we say plainly what the data does and does not measure. These pages carry no affiliate links and no sponsored content.
Options
We gather the best alternatives to the conventional funeral: natural and conservation burial, human composting, water cremation, memorial reefs and living urns. We explain each one plainly: what it does, what it costs, where it is legal and what its environmental impact actually is. We do not sell embalming, metal caskets, concrete vaults, or anything built to outlast the person inside it.
Conversations
Kairos curates bold, clear conversations about death, dying, and grief; the ones most of us are taught to avoid. Like the Ecology pages, these carry no affiliate links and no sponsored content.
Resources
Kairos provides free resources for those in various stages of planning for, or responding to, a death. Like the other editorial pages, they carry no affiliate links and no sponsored content. These resources are currently focused on the US, although a more international focus is in the planning.

Direct sales
Products sold through the Kairos shop will be sold by Kairos. Whether a specific order ships from our own inventory or directly from a supplier, Kairos is the seller of record in both cases. Every direct-sale product is tagged Kairos.
